Worship Through The Arts
The Worship and Arts Department of Mount Paran Church of God is committed to promoting the worship of God in spirit and in truth through the arts. It is our goal to inspire, encourage, train, and direct those whom God has called into the worship ministry with a spirit of service and excellence.
Adult Music and Fine Arts Opportunities
The Mount Paran Sanctuary Choir, directed by Mark Blankenship, ministers in Sunday morning worship services throughout the year in addition to Holiday concerts and special events. The styles of music performed range from gospel to classical music. The choir rehearses on Wednesday evenings from 7:00 – 9:00 pm. Childcare is available during rehearsals. To become a member of the Sanctuary Choir, interviews are held twice a year in the months of July and January. For more information, contact Chris Jenkins.
The Mount Paran Orchestra, ministers on Sunday morning worship services throughout the year both as accompaniment to the Mount Paran Sanctuary Choir and as a featured instrumental ensemble. The Orchestra also performs in Holiday Concerts and special events. They play various styles of music, ranging from contemporary Christian arrangements to classical music. The Orchestra rehearses on Wednesday evenings from 7:00 – 9:00 pm. Childcare is available during rehearsals. Children's Music and Fine Arts Opportunities
The Mount Paran Children’s Choir performs in Sunday morning worship services throughout the year, in addition to joining the Choir and Orchestra in Mount Paran’s annual Christmas Musical presentation. Rehearsals occur Sunday mornings in conjunction with Powerhouse. No audition is required for membership. For more information, contact Wes Lutes or call x. 333.
The Worship and Arts Department offers music & movement classes for babies, toddlers, & preschoolers with a parent/caregiver. This is a 45 minute class that meets once a week for an 8 to 12 week period, with four sessions per year scheduled in the spring, summer, winter and fall. Classes involve singing, instrument play, rhythmic chants, free movement and a non-performance oriented program designed to nurture children's natural attraction to music & movement. For those with a passion for drama, this community of actors offers two major plays each year, as well as involvement in other ministries as needed. No experience is necessary! Please call the music office at extension 224 or e-mail Chris Jenkinss for more information.
For those interested in private instruction for adults or children, the Worship and Arts Department can recommend professional instructors in the areas of voice and piano.
The Music Department at Mount Paran is pleased to perform and minister in many unique and creative productions throughout the entire year. As we continue to grow and our productions become more innovative, we are always interested in ways more people can add their efforts and talents beyond singing and playing musical instruments to make these productions even more effective. If you have experience or want to help out in the areas listed below, the Mount Paran Music Department would be delighted to speak with you about your contribution to future productions!
